JTAM membership is open to Michigan educators in grades preK-16, aspiring teachers, and other advocates of Japanese language/culture education. Membership runs from January 1 through December 31 each year. There is no pro-rated membership if you join mid-year, so we encourage you to join as close to January 1 as possible.
We offer two convenient ways to join JTAM:

1. In combination with AATJ (American Association of Teachers of Japanese) membership

When you obtain an AATJ membership, a portion ($16.50) of their annual membership fee ($50) is automatically transferred to JTAM when you choose us as your local affiliate chapter of AATJ. Please follow the steps below:

1) Go to the AATJ membership page at https://www.aatj.org/membership and choose the appropriate membership

2) Click "View Cart" & "Checkout." On the Checkout page, make sure to choose “JTAM (Japanese Teachers Association of Michigan)” in the dropdown menu under “Local Affiliate”

 

AATJ forwards JTAM an updated list of members every three months (end of January, April, August, and November/mid-December). If you would like to subscribe to the JTAM listserv before JTAM receives your name and email address from AATJ, please send your name, affiliation, email address under which you have registered to jtamsensei@gmail.com. 

 

2. JTAM-only membership​

If you are interested in joining only the local affiliate chapter, not the national organization, please send your request by filling out this registration form. Within 7-10 business days you will receive a confirmation email with instructions on how to pay JTAM the $20 membership fee.
