The Japanese Teachers Association of Michigan is a non-profit organization comprised of teachers and advocates of Japanese education in Michigan.
The mission of JTAM is to promote and improve the study and teaching of Japanese, and to encourage a spirit of professional cooperation among its members. JTAM is a local affiliate of the American Association of Teachers of Japanese (AATJ). When you join AATJ, please choose JTAM as your local affiliate. This will help strengthen JTAM and help us to achieve our goals as we advocate for the importance of Japanese language education.

JTAM/MSU Annual Workshop
On May 9, JTAM and Michigan State University offered a Zoom workshop titled Thriving with AI, featuring Dr. Shin Tsuchiya from Brigham Young University. Over 60 participants from Michigan and other states attended the workshop, where they discussed AI policies in writing assignments, used ChatGPT for speaking practice, and created one-page flyers for their programs and associations.

MSU/JTAM May Workshop
Michigan teachers (and one from Ohio!) gathered on Saturday, May 10th at MSU in East Lansing to review ACTFL levels, Can Do statements, and discuss how to create effective speaking assessments.
